Silverlake Craft, LLC is a small, owner-operated business based in Pasadena, California. We specialize in one thing: white expanded polystyrene (EPS) foam, the lightweight craft foam most people know as styrofoam, sold under our Craft Foam brand. Our catalog covers blocks, big blocks, sheets, squares, cubes, balls, circles, and cake dummy sets in a wide range of sizes and pack counts.
Who we serve
Our foam is used by artists and sculptors, crafters, bakers and cake decorators, florists, teachers and students, prop and display builders, and small businesses of every kind. Many of our customers buy for their own businesses and come back whenever a new project calls for a different shape or size.
Know your foam before you buy
Our foam is made of thousands of tiny foam beads fused together. That makes it light, rigid, and easy to shape, but it is not the soft, squishy foam or the smooth, fine-grained foam board some crafters expect. A few things to know:
- It can shed. Cutting with a regular kitchen knife or saw can pull beads loose and leave small white foam pellets behind. For clean edges, use a hot wire cutter or hot knife. A sharp razor or utility blade works for small cuts, and fine-grit sandpaper smooths surfaces.
- It is firm, not squishy. It will dent under pressure but does not spring back like soft foam.
- Use water-based products. Water-based paints and glues work well. Solvent-based products, including most spray paints, will melt it.
